Brenda Kay Pfeifer lives in Henderson, Nevada. One year short of 70, she decided to complete a lifelong dream of writing a workbook for women. During her late 30's, she found herself in a situation that demanded she find new life skills. Having married at a young age and never completing college, she went back to school to further her education. After reading an article in Woman’s Day Magazine, she submitted an essay to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, hoping to be accepted into their Women Helping Women Paraprofessional Peer Counseling Program. She was accepted and attended the University during the summer of 1981. Returning home with new skills and a vision as to how she might be able to help other women, she started peer counseling under the supervision of a trusted professional therapist. She also continued her education in Human Resources. She was certified in Alcohol/Drug Studies and Family Services. It was during this time that Brenda created a workbook and started teaching classes. She called those classes Well Seasoned Women. During the 1980's and the 1990's, Brenda facilitated these classes for women of all ages five days a week. She also wrote the poem A Well Seasoned Woman. Brenda wrote this workbook as a tool to help other women make better decisions in their lives. The first and most important thing a woman needs to do is to learn about herself. She needs to know who she is and what it is she really wants.
In the beginning, it may seem to be a daunting or even redundant process as we are always changing; life is always changing, but we need to keep learning again and again who we are and what we want in the present moment. As we collect seasonings, our taste changes. We add a little, we leave out a little. Gathering spices and creating a personal recipe is a lifelong process. |
